Cordata Neighborhood in Bellingham, WA

An Overview of Bellingham’s Newest Neighborhood
Cordata is Bellingham’s northernmost neighborhood—and also its newest and fastest-growing. Designed as a master-planned community, Cordata was built with everyday ease in mind. You’ll find acres of public parks, walking trails, bike lanes, and a thoughtful mix of residential, commercial, and medical spaces woven throughout the area. It’s a neighborhood that feels intentionally laid out, practical, and livable.
Where Is Cordata Located?
Cordata is located north of W. Bakerview Road, west of Meridian Street, and stretches to the northern, western, and southwestern limits of the City of Bellingham. One of Cordata’s biggest advantages is its accessibility—there are multiple nearby I-5 on-ramps, making it easy to get around town or head north or south.
Downtown Bellingham is typically just 10–15 minutes away, depending on traffic.
The neighborhood also sits right next to Whatcom Community College, and is home to Cordata Station, a large park-and-ride transit hub off Cordata Parkway that makes commuting around Bellingham simple and convenient.

What Living in Cordata Feels Like
Cordata feels very different from many of Bellingham’s older, quirkier neighborhoods with narrow streets and winding roads. Here, the streets are wide, parking is readily available, and sidewalks are well used—often by neighbors out walking their dogs or heading out in small groups.
Bike lanes and trails are a major part of the neighborhood design, making it easy to move around safely whether you’re walking, biking, or driving.
Homes in Cordata are primarily single-family houses with attached garages, though you’ll also find condos and duplexes throughout the neighborhood. Most of the architecture leans modern, since the oldest homes date back only to the late 1990s. Cordata didn’t officially become a recognized Bellingham neighborhood until 2010, which helps explain its newer look and feel.
Lot sizes tend to be modest, and many homes are designed for low-maintenance outdoor living, which is a big draw for people who want newer construction without the upkeep that often comes with older homes.

55+ Communities in Cordata
Cordata is especially popular with active adults, and there are several well-established 55+ communities located within the neighborhood, including:
- Village at Cordata
- Cordata Park Place Condominiums
- El Dorado Condominiums
- Festival Square
- Meadowbrook Condominiums
Each community offers its own mix of amenities and layouts, but all are consistently in high demand. Homes in these communities tend to sell quickly, largely due to limited inventory and strong interest.
Parks and Outdoor Spaces
Cordata is home to some of Bellingham’s newest and most thoughtfully designed parks.
Cordata Park spans 25 acres and includes age-differentiated playgrounds, a splash pad, pickleball courts, and even Washington State’s first outdoor parkour course. The park also features more than 14,000 newly planted trees and shrubs, giving it a lush, forward-thinking feel.
Julianna Park offers additional trails and open space, perfect for walking, quiet time, or simply enjoying the outdoors.
One of Cordata’s most charming features is a tree-lined street of cherry blossoms that becomes absolutely stunning each spring—a small but memorable detail that residents really love.

Shopping, Services, and Everyday Convenience
Living in Cordata makes daily errands easy. You’re close to Costco, Bellis Fair Mall, grocery stores, medical offices, and a wide range of services—all without having to drive across town. The neighborhood’s mixed-use design means many essentials are just minutes away.
Is Cordata Right for You?
If you’re looking for a newer home, modern infrastructure, and a neighborhood designed for convenience and low maintenance—without sacrificing access to parks and outdoor space—Cordata is well worth a look. It’s clean, accessible, thoughtfully planned, and continues to grow in a way that feels intentional.
There’s a lot to love about the Cordata neighborhood, and it’s easy to see why it’s become one of Bellingham’s most popular places to live.
Just a note that these photos were taken in January of 2026. January is not the prettiest time in Bellingham…though we definitely still have beautiful days. As you can see we still get wonderful sunny days…but the foliage isn’t showing off like it often does in the spring and the summer.
