Springtime is one of those seasons that everyone knows will be good. I moved here at the end of March in 2018, and today is the last day of spring for 2019…so I have officially lived here for two springs. Whoopee!
Spring is magical in Bellingham, of course. Living my entire life either in Hawaii or Arizona before moving here this season thing is very new to me. Bellingham has REAL seasons, and they are truly delightful. The amount of daylight we have is a huge difference from season to season. Officially at the start of spring it is daylight from 7:15am to 7:21pm. Now when it is ending we have gloriously long days with official daylight from 5:06am to 9:16pm. As the days grow longer it feels like you can do more and experience more and see more….because you can. I often have no idea what time it really is because it stays light so long. Temperatures go from highs in the mid 50’s to highs in the mid 60’s throughout spring.
Besides the days growing longer there is another way to watch Spring progress in Bellingham, by the flowers that are blooming. The flowers around Bellingham is my favorite thing in the spring. First the daffodils, then the tulips are blooming and you can drive to Skagit county to see them. I highly recommend. Then there are a plethora of other flowers that bloom as spring moves along. I don’t know all of their names, and I am not sure of when they bloom and die….but it is just wonderful to see all of the different colors come and go as spring progresses.
Spring is the time of year that you want to just get outside and see all there is to see. This short movie was made from pictures I took with my phone this last spring in Bellingham Washington. Everyone loves spring and looks forward to the sunny warm days. Here in Bellingham you are practically committing a crime if you are inside on a beautiful day, and there are SO many beautiful days it makes getting any work done difficult!
